What Your Tongue Says About Your Health

You must have watched in old movies how Slavers would open the mouths, stick out their teeth and tongues and look at their tongues to see if a prisoner was healthy. Today, animal traffickers and veterinarians do the same for animals. This is because dental, gum and tongue health is an indicator of body health.

The tongue is a mirror of the health of the body. It says a lot of things about your overall health.

KNOW YOUR TONGUE

A normal tongue; pink in colour, medium thickness, It has a vibrant appearance and is flexible. There is no tremor, side movement, curling or slipping to one side. All taste buds are smooth.

By associating differences in tongue with the parts of the body, it can be understood which organs have problems. The front of the tongue is related to the lungs, heart, chest and neck. Foam in this area means low lung energy. The person may have a cold, bronchitis, asthma or respiratory allergies. If you see a change in the heart area, the person may experience intense sadness, grief or depression.

The middle part of the tongue is related to the spleen, stomach, pancreas and liver. If there’s a red area in the liver and spleen side, there’s a problem with that organ.

The back part of the tongue is related to the organs of the lower abdomen, such as the intestine, colon and kidney. If a red area is seen in the kidney area it is a problem in the kidneys, the back part of the tongue is covered with a thin plaque, which means that the intestinal energy is low.

The colour of the tongue, cheeks, lips, and gums are indicators of your overall health.

DIFFERENCES IN TONGUE’S COLOR, SHAPE AND TEXTURE MAY SIGNAL A BODILY PROBLEM

> A red tongue shows a lack of some nutrients, especially iron and B vitamins. B vitamins are essential for energy metabolism, cell growth and proper functioning of the nervous system;

> If the colour of the tongue is pale, it means that haemoglobin is less in the body, which causes frequent fatigue and drowsiness;

> A purple tongue can mean a high cholesterol patient, which can lead to heart problems;

> Whitish – the most common imbalance in smokers, in people with a cold, a virus, at a high level of toxins and mucus in the body, constipation, during hunger treatment and/or diets, with disturbances in the gastrointestinal tract;

> Yellow-white – fungal infections;

> Yellow – in case of problems with bile and liver, with serious intoxication, at high temperature, with jaundice;

> Dark gray and/or dark brown – serious and systemic dehydration, serious damage to the functions of the gastrointestinal tract;

> Brownish – difficulty in digestion and digestive and excretory problems, with impaired lung functions, inflammation of the middle ear;

> Excessively red – the cardiovascular system and lungs are weak, an internal infection is also possible;

> Violet-purple – problems with the blood or lungs;

> Blue – alarm signal from the heart, kidneys or lungs;

> Excess smooth – probable anemia, lack of vitamin B2;

> Black and dark – serious problems with immunity; leukaemia, blood diseases, medication with antibiotics and other strong medicines.

From the perspective of Chinese medicine, the shape, quality, texture, colour and cover of the tongue can all highlight any hidden health and well-being problems.

ATTENTION TO MEDICATIONS USED

– Using antibiotics for a long time can cause peeling in the tongue and can last up to 2-3 weeks after this antibiotic is stopped.

– Asthma medications cause the tip of the tongue to redden.

– Diuretics cause the coating on the tongue to disappear and, if used for many years, cause peeling in the tongue.

– Anti-inflammatory drugs cause red spots and the formation of a thinner tongue structure. If used for many years, there will be further peelings in the tongue.

– Cancer drugs cause a black dry thick brown-black coating on the tongue.

– Steroids cause the tongue to be red and swollen.

Drinks, foods, antibiotics and even sucking tablets and emulsions may cause colouring in your tongue, but there’s no need to worry. Just make sure your tongue is cleaned thoroughly every time your brush your teeth.

Having known some of the discoloration of the tongue and its indications, perhaps you wonder about what colour of the tongue indicates that we are in good health. Of course the answer is a pink tongue colour.

There is also something to look out for, as with some infections and allergies such that the tongue turns reddish and the condition of the tongue even swells; this condition is called glossitis.

Conclusion

Checking the health condition through the colour of the tongue is quite reliable because it is also what doctors do when checking a person’s health condition

So friends! Check your health condition with your tongue colour regularly, and if you find any discrepancies such as discoloration according to what is informed here, check with your doctor immediately. Take care.
